Beate Reinheimer: Weidmannsheil Waldeslust und Waldesfrust 17/10/04 - 13/11/04
Weidmannsheil is an old German hunters salute exchanged between hunters who came across during hunting. Under this title Beate Reinheimer put together an exhibition, showing new designs for which she took the theme 'hunting', a rather disputed theme these days, as a starting point. The hunting dinner service she designed is an overall concept and was made of black and white porcelain. It was completed with candelabres, table pieces, wineglasses, a tablecloth that was embroidered by Ulrike Rehm, and bags made by Hanna Tynkkynen. The whole table setting refers to sociability and snugness during dinner, but also to traditions and death. The use of porcelain provides the service an aesthetic appearance.
Besides aesthetics however, usability was an aim that was just as
important while designing this hunting dinner service.
In the early seventies Beate Reinheimer studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. Today she has been teaching ceramic design at this very same art academy for over 20 years.
Beate Reinheimer's work has been on show in Antwerp, London, Prague,
Denmark, Germany en Australia and was acquired by ao Museum Boymans van Beuningen
in Rotterdam, The Centraal Museum in Utrecht, The Gemeente
Museum in Arnhem, The Princessehof in Leeuwarden, The Keramion Frechen
and the Westerwaldmuseum Höhr-Grenzhausen. |
